- the Kabini lodge DOES NOT do elephant rides (it did in the past), nor trekking . I advise you not to write it on the list of activities offered as it raises expectations that inevitably go disattended.
- the Pai Vista hotel was not up to the standards of the other hotels visited, a nd the room given to us, once filled with 4 beds, was very tight. I thought you might be interested even in not so positive comments, so that you may be informed for the future.

"Hello Benjamine & Balaji

We arrived safely home on Monday night. Our trip across southern India was perfect - the hotels were fine. I especially fell in love with Villa Orphelia and Clare liked the Fort Kochi hotel very much. It was a privilege to stay with Ashok and his delightful son, Ashtic and to stay in such a remote part of the backwaters. John, our driver, was helpful and courteous always and even took us to his friend's relative's funeral in a tiny village - a unique experience. Varkala was so interesting with the shops all along the cliffs and I swam every day. Clare didn't tackle the steps but we walked over to the north beach one day for a swim. We loved South Goa and the casual lifestyle. We stuck with Dominicx restaurant on the beach and his staff looked after us well. All the trains were on time and were convenient and comfortable. Mumbai was really good and a different dimension again. Quite westernised and lots of young people. I took a trip across to Elephanta Island while Clare visited the art galleries.
We were fascinated by the Hindu temples and tried to learn as much as we could about the gods. I was very taken with Nataraja and brought a tiny bronze back with me.
I am missing the noise and bustle - Swansea's roads and streets seem deserted!
