  • With its capital at Bangalore and the official language as Kannnada, the state of Karnataka was formerly known as Mysore. It is a state with strong contrasts where modernity blends with traditions. Bangalore was founded by Kempe Gowda in the early 16th century. Though modern, industrial and bustling centre it remains to be one of the most pleasant cities in the southern India. The central area embraces within itself the alluring parks, tree lined avenues, gardens massive buildings and perky bazaars. The pace of life is quite brisk.

  • The states other major city, Mysore, appeals for its old fashioned ambience, the 19th century palace and incense markets. Near to it lies the fortified Srirangapatnam, a site witness to the bloody battle of 1799 that put Mysore to the hands of the Britishers.

  • The coffee and spice growing region of Kodagu is entrancing with its unique culture amidst the woody hills and valleys are situated between Goa and Kerala.
